I am from Buffalo, NY. I have been a teacher consultant, and have taught at every level, from early childhood education through college. I also founded an early childhood center that provided quality child care year round. Supporting childcare centers that allow mothers to work knowing their children's development is being served is an important way that we can cultivate a gender-equal society. Currently, there is a bias about early childhood education; it is less valued than grade school, high school, and college. We don't support it, so it falls on the centers and the parents to support childcare. It's time to break this bias and to support mothers who have young children and the childcare centers who allow them to work outside the home.
