Student Orientation
If you think of your education as a journey, orientation is your roadmap. At orientation, you’ll learn about:
- Online and blended learning at SUNY Empire
- Academic support resources and how to access them
- How to get the most from your student/mentor relationship
…and more.
We offer orientation in three convenient formats so you can choose the one that works best for you:
- Online (pre-recorded, self-paced and available 24/7)
- Skype (an online meeting in real time via video connection)
- In person (a face-to-face session at a SUNY Empire location near you)
Faculty Mentors and Advisors
During—or shortly after—orientation, you’ll connect with your faculty mentor (undergraduate students) or faculty advisor (graduate students). He or she will help you clearly define your goals and help you put a plan in place to achieve them. This crucial relationship will help you navigate your degree program and provide motivation when you need it most.
