Statement from President Jim Malatras on Protection of International Students in Higher Education
Today, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement rescinded the federal administration’s misguided attempt to disrupt the education of our valued and hardworking international students. At SUNY Empire State College and institutions of higher education around the country, international students bring diversity of perspective, thought, and culture that enriches the learning environment for everyone. They deserve the opportunity to pursue their educational goals without fear of discrimination or deportation. At SUNY Empire, we remain committed to building bridges, not walls. The entire SUNY Empire community applauds New York Attorney General Letitia James and New York’s Congressional Delegation’s standing up for these students.
