Degree Requirements
- Associate degree: You must successfully complete 64 college credits, with at least 24 earned at Empire State College. Up to 40 credits for college-level learning prior to enrolling at Empire State College may be accepted as transfer credits.
- Bachelor’s degree: You must successfully complete 124 credits, with at least 31 earned at Empire State College. Up to 93 credits for college-level learning prior to enrolling at Empire State College may be accepted as transfer credits.
- Pathways Transfer Program: If you have a completed associate degree from a State University of New York or City University of New York community college, you may transfer your entire associate degree into an Empire State College bachelor’s degree program with up to 79 lower-level credits. During the first year after transferring, Pathways students who have less than 79 lower-level transfer credits can elect to take additional credits beyond the associate degree at their community college campus, with advisement from their Empire State College mentor. Transfer students may also begin their upper-level credits by enrolling at one of the college’s 35 locations across New York state for faculty-mentor guided independent study or small-group study, or take online courses through the SUNY Empire Online.
