Alternative Credit Project
The Alternative Credit Project TM (ACP) provides a pool of online courses that SUNY Empire State College will accept toward degree completion. A national program of the American Council on Education (ACE), supported by a grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the ACP is designed to help adults complete a 2- or 4-year degree, or a postsecondary certificate.
The goal of the ACP is to encourage greater acceptance of students’ alternative credit and to create a more flexible pathway toward postsecondary education attainment for the more than 31 million nontraditional students who may have some college credit but no degree. The project aims to help students for whom the traditional higher education framework is not a feasible option—perhaps due to lifestyle concerns, financial restrictions, or time constraints—as well as students who are returning to school after an extended period away from the classroom.
After completion of an ACP course, please request an ACE transcript to be sent to SUNY Empire College. To determine how these courses might fit into your program of study, please contact a pre-enrollment advisor at 1-800-847-3000. You can also view our transfer agreements for more crediting information.
