Alison Long

Alison currently serves in the Air Force Reserves, IMA program, at Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Virginia. She has spent almost 17 years in aviation, as an air traffic controller and as a weather forecaster.” She serves as a back-up forecaster to Air Force and Army weather stations and recently completed a 5 month assignment at Ft. Carson, Colorado.  In addition to providing weather briefings and scientific data to aviators and military staff, she trains junior forecasters on how to collect and analyze data. She is constantly adapting to the new environments in which she supports, learning new modeling software in the ever changing world of technology.  Alison is a 2005 graduate of University of Maryland University College (UMUC) where she earned a B.A. in Asian Studies. She became interested in the Asian culture when she transferred to Yongsan Air Base, Seoul, South Korea in 2002 and then completed her coursework while stationed throughout the world. While deployed to Afghanistan in 2004, she participated in distance learning and was entered onto UMUC's Dean's list for the summer of 2004. After leaving active duty in 2005, with just over 8 years of service, Alison entered into the civilian workforce.  Alison has lived over 8 years in the Navy community of Virginia Beach, Virginia, where she attended Regent University. In 2013, she graduated with a Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in community mental health and school counseling, a dual track degree. Alison completed her degree in just 2 years on an accelerated track. While attending, Alison utilized her Post-9/11 G.I. Bill.  She was also awarded the 2013 National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC) Military Scholarship for her dedication in serving the military population. Alison is a National Certified Counselor (NCC).

Alison enjoys hot yoga, teaching yoga, running, not sewing, traveling and skiing the Rockies. She enjoys serving the ever changing military population.
