Managing Stress During Times of Change

by the Office of Student Life

It’s normal and natural to feel stressed, anxious or worried during the COVID-19 pandemic because changes to our daily lives can be unsettling. Taking actions to reduce stress can help you from feeling overwhelmed and finding coping mechanisms such as reaching out to loved ones, staying physically active, or enjoying a hobby can help you to manage anxieties. Maintaining a schedule and setting daily goals can also provide a sense of clarity.

The Student Health and Wellness Initiative at SUNY Empire has put together some resources to help during this time of transition. These resources contain information relating to Food Insecurities, Domestic Violence, Substance Use Disorders, Grief and Loss, Child Care and Managing Stress. They focus on statewide resources, along with information pertaining to specific regions across the state. Visit the Student Health and Wellness website for more information.

The Office of Student Life is also offering information on social media relating to the COVID-19 pandemic. The pages contain virtual family outings, self-care tips, at home workouts and resources for homeschooling. Links are also available on these pages for all of the ESC Connects programs that are being offered. This page can be found on Facebook under Student Success SUNY Empire State College and on Twitter at @SUNYEmpireLife.
