Food Insecurity Resources for Students
What is food insecurity? Contrary to popular belief, there is a huge difference between "hunger" and "food insecure." Hunger is associated with not having food, nor access to food. Food insecurity is having access to food, but not necessarily knowing where that next meal will come from.
SUNY Empire state college has partnered with the SUNY Food Insecurity Task Force and several organizations around the state, to bring our students healthy food options, especially to those in need. Please look for your county below with the corresponding organization that can provide you with assistance. If you have any questions at any time, please reach out to healthandwellness@esc.edu.
Are you in the immediate Capital District (Albany, Rensselaer, Saratoga, or Schenectady Counties)? Please check out The Food Pantries for the Capital District. The Food Pantries of the Capital District represent over 60 different food pantries, and are a phenomenal resource to our community. They can be reached at www.thefoodpantries.org or (518) 458-1167.
