Institutional Review Board
The Institutional Review Board (IRB) is a faculty committee which reviews and approves all research protocols involving human subjects. If you are planning to use human subjects in your research project, you need to contact the IRB as soon as possible to ensure that the research plan is approved in time for the start of your project.
This is particularly important for those who are planning to submit proposals for external funding, as many sponsors require IRB approval of the project at the time of the proposal submission.
For additional information regarding the IRB and for directions on how to apply for IRB approval, see the IRB website.
