Ways to Study Online

This is no cookie-cutter college, and there are no cookie-cutter degree programs.
You’re busy. We’re flexible. And there’s more than one way to study at SUNY Empire. Whether you choose to learn fully online or want some more traditional, in-person learning experiences, we’ve got undergraduate courses that meet your needs and move you toward your degree. Fully online
Choose from more than 110 online degrees and certificates. No in-person requirement. No commute. Earn your degree online, from wherever you happen to be.

Hybrid/blended learning
Combine the flexibility and access of an online course with a limited number of scheduled, in-person classroom or other onsite activities, such as weekend residencies, seminar-style classes, workshops or group projects.

Independent study
Have an interest or online course idea not currently offered? Consider independent study. Work with your faculty mentor to build a personalized course that meets your interests and degree requirements.

Eight-week accelerated course
These full-credit, online courses cover all the content of our traditional 15-week courses, but compress them to eight weeks to help you earn credit faster. Eight-week terms are offered every term.
