Practice Experiences
The Community Health Nursing course and Baccalaureate Nursing Capstone course are completed near the end of the program and require practice experience hours that must be completed in addition to the online courses.
All students must meet health requirements and pass a criminal background check prior to the start of their practice experience. The criminal background check should be completed no more than six months in advance through CastleBranch.com.
The student and the college can view the results of the background check on CastleBranch.com's secure and tamper-proof website.
Time Requirements
Please plan in advance how you will accommodate practice experience hours in your present work schedule. Many facilities have specific business hours on Monday through Friday only.
Students can request preferred days, but sites often have limited availability and may even insist on a specific day. Students are responsible for identifying potential practice experience placements and discussing these with the clinical coordinator well in advance (six months or more).
The clinical coordinator may assist with practice experience placements but such placements are not guaranteed.
