New opportunity!  You can complete a Masters in Nursing Education or a Masters in Nursing Administration regardless of where you live in the United States.

The Master of Science in Nursing degree program at SUNY Empire State College prepares graduates to advance nursing practice in a complex and evolving health care environment.

Through graduate-level study, nurses will develop enhanced analytical skills and deliver care that ensures safety and improves quality outcomes. The academic content of the program focuses on achieving the core competencies identified by the Institute of Medicine (2010) for all health care providers.

These competencies include:

  • provision of patient-centered care
  • working in interprofessional teams
  • employing evidence-based practice
  • applying quality improvement approaches
  • utilizing informatics.

‌The program is designed for part-time study to accommodate the responsibilities of adult learners. The college’s adult learners pursue their academic goals while balancing work, family and community commitments. The nursing faculty serve as facilitators in both program advisement and instruction.

The Master of Science in Nursing Education program (36 credits) is expected to be completed in six terms.

The Master of Science in Nursing Administration program (33 credits) is expected to be completed in six terms.

The RN to BSN, MS in Nursing Education, and MS in Nursing Administration programs at Empire State College are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
