SUNY Empire State College Waives Late Registration Fee for January 2013 Term

(SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – Jan. 17, 2013) SUNY Empire State College today announced that the January 2013 late registration fees will be waived for all students enrolled at a location affected by Hurricane Sandy, including the Hudson ValleyMetropolitan New York and Long Island centers as well as the Harry Van Arsdale Jr. Center for Labor Studies.

Students living in those areas and studying through the college’s School for Graduate for Graduate Studies, the Center for Distance Learning or nursing program can follow the established process, which has been in place for several years, to obtain a waiver.

These centers and programs each has a process for identifying students affected by Sandy and the circumstances under which a waiver will be allowed.

“Students and their families continue to face challenges in the wake of Hurricane Sandy and saving them a little more time and money so they can continue their education is something we can and should do,” said Acting President Meg Benke.

In the immediate aftermath of the storm, the college provided students with more than $50,000 in grants of up to $500 each to replace educational resources such as books and computers.

Student letters and expressions of thanks are available on the college’s Hurricane Assistance website.
