Professor Roxana Toma Delivers 2016 Turben Lecture at All College Conference
Toma’s Lecture is Available Live on ESC-TV
The Susan H. Turben Excellence in Scholarship Faculty Lecture, delivered by Roxana Toma, will take place at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 22, 3:30 p.m., in the Saratoga Springs City Center, meeting room 1, and will be streamed live via the Internet at www.esc.edu/esc-tv.
Toma, an assistant professor in Policy Studies with SUNY Empire State College’s School for Graduate Studies, the 2015 recipient of the Susan H. Turben Award for Excellence in Scholarship, will speak on "Confronting Corruption in Government: The Need for Trusted Leadership and Civic Engagement" at the 2016 All College Conference, which is the capstone of the Turben award.
Toma came to SUNY Empire five years ago as a new Ph.D. with an award-winning dissertation. Since that time, she has built on that record of scholarship through peer-reviewed articles and presentations. Her research skills, insightful analysis, collaborative generosity in working with colleagues and students and her creativity and strong organizational abilities were cited by colleagues as reasons for the recognition.
The Turben award recognizes and honors a faculty member or professional employee for distinguished scholarly activity that is widely recognized and significantly enhances the academic reputation of SUNY Empire.
Recent past Turben award winners include:
- Nadine Fernandez, 2014
- Julie Gedro, 2013
