League of Women Voters State Unified Court Systems Guides Available Online
The League of Women Voters and the New York State Unified Court System have published nonpartisan, online voters’ guides for the Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2015 general election.
The league’s guide is searchable by voters’ addresses and provides access to information about candidates running for local and statewide office
The court system’s Judicial Candidate Voter Guide is searchable by county and includes descriptions of elective judicial offices throughout the state, a list of judicial candidates with information about each, based on materials provided by the state and county boards of election.
There are 109 state-paid judicial vacancies to be filled in the general election this year, including a number of newly created family court positions.
Both guides are designed to help voters make better-informed choices when they enter the ballot box Tuesday.
Since 1920, The League of Women Voters has sought to improve government and engage all citizens in the decisions that impact their lives. Through more than 800 state and local leagues, it operates at national, state and local levels in all 50 U.S. states, the District of Columbia, as well as the U.S. Virgin Islands and Hong Kong.
For administrative purposes, the 62 counties in New York state are divided into 13 judicial districts and four judicial departments.
