The SUNY Faculty Advisory Council on Teaching and Technology (FACT2) is presenting a one-day symposium, “Accessibility: Designing Access for All Learners,” from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Friday, Nov. 6, 113 West Ave., Saratoga Springs, N.Y., one of SUNY Empire State College’s 35 locations across the state.

All sessions will be streamed live via the Internet Friday and links will be available from both the FACT2 and SUNY Center for Professional Development websites.

Kim Russell, a SUNY Empire student who is visually impaired, will be the featured speaker for the symposium’s opening session, “My Journey through Darkness.”

The college’s Michele Forte, a mentor and assistant professor in Community and Human Services, and Kelly Herman, director of disability Services, will facilitate this session.

Kathleen Stone, the college’s director of curriculum and instructional design, and Ginger Bidell, instructional designer, Buffalo State College, will present “MOOC - Accessibility: Designing and Teaching Courses for All Learners” as part of an afternoon panel session focused on campus accessibility projects that have been supported by SUNY Innovative Instruction Technology Grants.

Tom Mackey, the college’s vice provost for academic programs, and Janet Nepkie, FACT2 chairperson and SUNY distinguished service professor of Music and Music Industry, SUNY Oneonta, will provide welcoming remarks to open the symposium.
