How long do students have access to Microsoft 365?
As of July 20, 2016, Students gain access to M365 on the first day of the term when they are enrolled at the college. All students who enroll in at least one study per year will have access to M365. Students will lose access one year from the date of their last enrollment if no further studies are taken.
When a student loses access, their Microsoft license will be removed and they will lose access to the applications that are only available through a student license. This includes all data stored in OneDrive or any mail in your college M365 mailbox. It is the student's responsibility to backup and save any data they wish to save.
Microsoft desktop applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc...) can remain installed on your computer, but they will enter a 30-day grace period of full functionality.
After the 30-day grace period, Microsoft desktop applications will enter "read only reduced functionality" mode, in which most functions will not be available. For instance, in Microsoft Word "read only reduced functionality mode" you will not be able to create new documents, edit existing documents, or save documents. You will only be able to view and print documents. Applications in "read only reduced functionality" mode will need to be uninstalled manually from your computer if you do not plan on purchasing Microsoft 365 for yourself (or reenrolling at the college) after the license change.
Students will receive a reminder email no less than 30 days before their license is scheduled to be removed.
Important: Students may lose immediate access to Microsoft 365, including all data in OneDrive, if they are suspended or expelled from the college.
