Lessons from COVID-19
Arvind Persaud
The way I see it, the world will learn from this pandemic and the tragedies caused by it. Once this passes, everyone will continue to practice healthy lifestyles and good hygiene. Social distancing will no longer be a concern and friends and family can finally rejoice again. Still, no matter how careful we are right now, I can't shake the feeling that the good habits and importance of cleanliness that arose during this pandemic will fade away eventually. As time passes, what is currently going on will become just a memory that will be forgotten. In the worst case, another pandemic is bound to happen in due time and the cycle will repeat itself over and over. The best thing we can do now is to enact an emergency plan to mitigate the effects of a global health crisis, should this ever happen again. A plan that provides immediate relief for those who lose their jobs or are told to stay home, provides the proper protection for those who are forced to work during trying times, and ensures that those who need special care and medical attention will receive it.
