Certification Requirements
To meet state education department requirements, applicants must possess a bachelor's degree and 24 credits in the Liberal Arts and Sciences distribution, as well as the general education requirements. Applicants with up to 6 credits of course deficiencies in these areas can be considered for admission. In addition to completing the program, students must pass the appropriate NYS certification exams in order to qualify for certification.
Liberal Arts and Sciences Requirements
Undergraduate courses with a grade below C and graduate courses with a grade below B are not acceptable toward review.

General Education Requirements for New York State Certification
Applicants in all content areas must have completed 30 semester hours (at least 3 credits in each of the 10 areas) of liberal arts and sciences general education. The written analysis/expression category must be fulfilled with a course outcome of B or higher.
