Combined BS/Master's Degree Pathways – SUNY Canton

Enrollment in a combined pathway allows highly qualified, current SUNY Canton Bachelor of Science students to work on one of two master's degrees while completing their bachelor’s degree. Up to 12 credits of designated graduate courses are incorporated into the undergraduate degree program and will count toward both the bachelor’s degree and the master’s degree.

Program Requirements

SUNY Canton students will be able to apply for the combined pathway once they have:

  • completed 60-credits of undergraduate coursework 
  • completed any required prerequisite courses with a B or better
  • earned a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or above at the time of application to the program­­­­­

Pathways

  • Bachelor of Science in Healthcare Management to Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Business Management
  • Bachelor of Science in Healthcare Management to Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Healthcare Leadership

Prerequisite Courses

The MBA in Business Management and the MBA in Healthcare Leadership require undergraduate level courses in: statistics (3 credits), micro economics (3 credits), and accounting (3 credits).

Combined Pathway Admission

Admission into the combined pathways is highly selective. SUNY Canton undergraduate students apply and complete the application to the master's degree through the School for Graduate Studies online.

The following application requirements are waived for active SUNY Canton students: application fee (contact grad@esc.edu for waiver code), the application essay, and letters of recommendation.

Combined Program Courses

Students accepted to a combined pathway will include 4 courses (12 credits) in their approved undergraduate degree plans. Special requests to substitute these courses will be considered by the program chairs in consultation with the student's SUNY Canton advisor.

1. Bachelor of Science to Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Business Management

Students in this pathway will include 4 courses from the list below in their undergraduate degree plans:

  • MGMT 6020 Leadership and Organizational Behavior
  • MGMT 6025 Strategic Perspectives of Global Management
  • HCLM 6075 Managing Healthcare Systems
  • HCLM 6080 Health Policy and Management
  • HCLM 7005 Strategic Corporate Communication and Inter-professional Collaboration

2. Bachelor of Science to Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Healthcare Leadership

Students in this pathway will include 4 courses from the list below in their undergraduate degree plans:

  • HCLM 6026 Comparative Healthcare Systems
  • HCLM 6035 Healthcare Accounting
  • HCLM 6055 Healthcare Marketing Services
  • HCLM 6075 Managing Healthcare Systems
  • HCLM 6080 Health Policy and Management
  • HCLM 7005 Strategic Corporate Communication and Inter-professional Collaboration
