Sponsor
The Academy for Lifelong Learning (A.L.L.) is sponsored by Empire State College through the Empire State College Foundation. A.L.L. is a program in the college's Office of Communications and Marketing. The college provides office and classroom space as well as some advisory and administrative support.
National Organization
A.L.L. is one of over 400 Lifelong Learning Institutes (LLIs) in North America, affiliated with the Road Scholar Institute Network.
Road Scholar's mission is to provide educational experiences for older adults. The institutes are distinct from the Road Scholar travel program in that they are based in local communities throughout North America, and their membership determines the curriculum they offer. Each LLI is usually sponsored by a nearby college or university.
Road Scholar Institute Network provided invaluable advice and support in establishing A.L.L. in 1992, and the Academy has remained a member in the New England region since that date. A.L.L. members and staff have attended and volunteered as presenters at several regional and national conferences.
